September Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Pete Fingers and GAP Records mark Childhood Cancer Awareness Month with an emotional new song dedicated to children, families and everyone standing beside them.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time when families, survivors, healthcare professionals, charities and communities around the world come together to raise awareness of childhood and adolescent cancer.
The gold ribbon has become an international symbol of that awareness, representing the courage and resilience of children and young people affected by cancer. Throughout September, organisations worldwide are taking part in Gold September activities, culminating this year in a global "Turn the World Gold" moment on 30 September.
For GAP Records producer and songwriter Pete Fingers, this year's awareness month has a particularly personal meaning.
Pete has released a new song, "Brighter Than The Dark", written as a message of hope, courage and love for children facing cancer and for the families, friends and medical teams supporting them.
The inspiration came from marking 5 years since the loss of his wife to cancer.
Rather than creating a song centred on sadness, Pete wanted "Brighter Than The Dark" to speak directly to young people in a way that acknowledges fear, exhaustion and uncertainty while still holding onto hope.
The song deliberately makes no promises about what tomorrow will bring. Instead, its message encourages children to keep dreaming, keep believing, keep reaching for tomorrow and remember that they do not face their journey alone.
"No child should ever have to fight this disease," Pete says. "I wanted to create something that did not pretend everything was going to be okay, but still reminded a young person that fear does not take away their courage, their dreams or the love surrounding them."
"Brighter Than The Dark" was written and produced by Pete Fingers and GAP Records and is performed by Amy, GAP Records' fictional teen AI artist. Amy was created with a youthful, warm and contemporary vocal identity so the song could connect naturally with a younger audience while acting as a compassionate narrator rather than pretending to be a child undergoing treatment.
The accompanying video continues that approach, focusing on family, care, togetherness and the idea that even during the darkest moments, hope can still exist.
GAP Records is now making the song available to childhood cancer organisations, family support groups, hospitals, charities and awareness communities around the world. The intention is not commercial promotion, but simply to help the song reach children and families who may find comfort or encouragement in its message.
As Gold September continues, GAP Records joins the international community in recognising the children and adolescents facing cancer, the families walking beside them, the survivors, and the healthcare professionals and organisations working every day to support them.

BRIGHTER THAN THE DARK: GAP RECORDS RELEASES A SONG OF HOPE FOR CHILDREN FACING CANCER
Kerr County Floods, Mid Texas, USA.
Date of Incident: - July 4th, 2025
Date: July 4, 2025 (Independence Day), the flooding began overnight, turning a celebratory holiday into tragedy
Location: Kerr County, Texas as well as other local counties.
Impact: Torrential rainfall caused historic flooding of the Guadeloupe River across the region, damaging homes, destroying camps, displacing families, and overwhelming local infrastructure.
Casualties & Damage: Several communities heavily affected; emergency services continue rescue and recovery operations. Death toll now over 107 and 161 missing.
Kendall, Travis, Burnet, Williamson, and Tom Green have all reported confirmed deaths.
At least 10 more missing individuals were reported in Travis County alone, with a handful more in Burnet and Williamson.
As of July 8, up to 161 people are still listed as missing outside of Kerr County
